How Long Should You Spend On a Voice Over Audition?

When it comes to voice over auditions, it's important to balance quality with efficiency. Here are some general guidelines on how long you should spend on a voice over audition.

Read the script carefully: Before you start recording, take the time to read the script carefully. Make sure you understand the tone, style, and pacing of the piece.

Practice and prepare: Spend some time practicing your read and experimenting with different tones and inflections. You may also want to do some research on the brand or product you're auditioning for to get a better sense of their style and audience.

Set up your recording space: Make sure you have a quiet, well-lit space to record in. Check your equipment and make sure everything is working properly.

Record multiple takes: It's a good idea to record multiple takes of your read, experimenting with different approaches. This will give you more options to choose from and help you stand out from the competition.

In general, you should aim to spend no more than an hour on a voice over audition. This will give you enough time to prepare and record your read, while still allowing you to be efficient with your time. Remember, quality is more important than quantity, so focus on delivering a polished, professional read that showcases your skills and personality.
